Are you trying to limit your salt intake? If yes, then this post is for you.
The most obvious approach in limiting your salt intake is to decrease the amount you put in your food. It is easy if you cook your own meal or you bring food from home all the time. It is a bit more problematic when you are eating out, or eating at somebody else’s place. You can always choose not to eat of course, one option I always avoid
When you eat soup, and it is too salty to your taste (which means you are gonna eat more salt than you’re supposed to) there is an easy “half”-solution. Dilute it with water.
You may argue that the amount of salt is practically the same even though you add water. Exactly. And the solution to that is to decrease your salt in the next meal. Nevertheless, you should still add more water to your soup. The point is to make it less salty and avoid you getting used to the saltiness. Because if you let yourself getting used to the taste, you will consider the soup taste as normal and the food you usually take as “too plain”. That way, you may have to attune your tongue back to your original taste. Remember how hard that was? Yup, that’s the whole point of this post
